It’s a piece of advice that seems obvious, and yet… To see if a perfume suits you, you have to test it on yourself. It is the skin that creates alchemy with the perfume. Even with the bottle, you will only feel the most superficial notes – what are called top notes. Similarly, on a paper touch like the one that sellers often tend us in perfumery, the background notes, warm and sensual, do not grow as well as on the skin.
For an “effective” test, we advise you to spray the perfume on the impulse points, that is, where you feel your heart beating. These include the neck and wrists, which promote emulsion and the diffusion of odours. Leave on for 30 to 60 minutes.
At first, it is the top notes that appear (the freshest). Then come the heart notes, or floral or fruity notes, that evoke the theme of perfume. But it is the basic note that will reveal the true personality of your perfume. The latter appears later. If after thirty minutes, you no longer smell the scent, it may mean that it suits you well.
To choose, you must not test more than 3 flavours! Beyond that, the smell no longer perceives the differences. Breathe your fragrance in fresh air, out of confined space and do not wear anything on the day you try it. Be careful, a perfume for men that suits another person may not suit you at all!
