Remembering the entire history of the development of smartphones by a company that completely owns the Android OS, one involuntarily comes to the conclusion that Google’s flagship smartphones ended somewhere on the Pixel 3 model. After that, the company came to grips with A-series devices. Now, Google has decided to return to the flagship segment and released the Pixel 7 Pro model, pinning hopes on it in competition with other well-known brands.
Design
The Pixel 7 Pro brings subtle design improvements to its predecessor while still offering a beautiful, weatherproof design. At first glance, the novelty from afar looks like a super-sized Pixel 6a. For example, on the back side, a transverse protrusion with the main camera module placed in it has been preserved. However, unlike the 6a, the Pixel 7 Pro is made from aluminum, which increases both the durability and weight of the device. The smartphone is IP68 certified.
The entire Pixel 7 lineup has contrasting bezels that add a pop of color to the overall look.
A fairly reliable and fast fingerprint scanner is implemented under the screen of the device. The gadget successfully passed the verification of unlocking the smartphone with unregistered fingerprints, protecting itself from unauthorized access.
It is also worth noting that the gadget has very loud stereo speakers that add comfort when watching streaming video content.
Display
The smartphone is equipped with a 6.7-inch OLED panel with a resolution of QHD + (1440 x 3120 pixels). The display is supported by LTPO technology, so the screen can intelligently change its refresh rate between 10Hz and 120Hz depending on the content being played. From the fact that the edges of the screen are bent on the sides, the smartphone seems a little slippery. The device is covered with protective glass Corning Gorilla Glass Victus both on the back and front, therefore, the display must be reliably protected from scuffs and scratches.
The quality of playback of any content on a smartphone display, in my opinion, is at the highest level. In addition, the OLED display matrix is responsible for deep blacks, and the panel has very wide viewing angles.
Performance, software, and battery life
At the heart of the hardware of the Pixel 7 Pro is the latest Google Tensor G2 processor. The new mobile platform is very similar in its architecture to the previous version but still has several improvements.
Both SoCs use two Cortex X1 cores, although those in the Pixel 7 Pro lineup are clocked at a slightly higher 2.85GHz. At the same time, in the new model, the Cortex A76 cores were replaced with more efficient Cortex A78 cores. In theory, Tensor G2 should provide slightly better multi-threaded performance. Like last year’s SoC, the Tensor G2 uses a quad-core Cortex A55 cluster that works as the efficient core of the chipset.
Cameras
The Pixel 7 Pro features a 50MP primary sensor that works alongside a 12MP ultra-wide lens and a 48MP telephoto lens. For selfies, the device uses a 10.8-megapixel sensor on the front.
Pixel 7 Pro lets you capture stunning images in a variety of scenarios and focal lengths.
The Pixel 7 Pro looks beautiful and will certainly attract attention from sophisticated users. It is very pleasant to look at the smartphone screen, and the triple camera of the device will not leave indifferent every photography lover.
